Storm damage
High winds can pull conductors, twist brackets or loosen fixings. The attachment and surrounding roofline may both need review before the service can be secured again.

Overhead Service Connections
The point of attachment is the place where an overhead service is secured at a building, pole or approved structure. It must hold the conductors in the correct position and maintain required clearances. Damage to the bracket, support, conduit or surrounding building can leave the service line under strain even when the power has not failed.

01 / When You Need This
Attachment damage can develop gradually or result from one event. These visible changes should not be ignored.
High winds can pull conductors, twist brackets or loosen fixings. The attachment and surrounding roofline may both need review before the service can be secured again.
A branch across the service can place heavy side load on the bracket and building. Keep clear and contact the distributor if the line is displaced, low or damaged.
A noticeable loss of clearance can result from line, attachment or support movement. Do not try to measure or raise it. The authorised parties must assess the complete span.
Salt exposure, moisture and ageing materials can weaken brackets, fascia and fixings. Replacing hardware without confirming the supporting structure may leave the underlying problem unresolved.
A new roofline, cladding, balcony or scaffold can conflict with the existing service. The new attachment position should be approved before the old point is removed.
A notice may identify an attachment, clearance or service-condition issue. The quoted remedy should follow the stated defect and confirm which party closes each compliance item.
02 / What's Involved
A durable repair considers the service line, attachment hardware, supporting structure and customer mains as one arrangement.
The line condition and asset boundary are identified. Immediate network hazards are referred to the distributor before a planned repair is booked.
Fascia, rafter, masonry or other support must be suitable for the approved attachment. Carpentry, roofing or structural work is identified separately where electrical fixings cannot be safely reinstated.
The bracket, hook, insulators, conduit and fixings are selected for the approved service arrangement and environment. Network-side parts are handled by the accredited partner.
The attachment position is checked against roofs, windows, balconies, pools, driveways and accessible areas. Renovation plans are considered so the repair does not conflict with imminent building work.
Stewart checks whether movement or damage has affected installation-side cabling, enclosure entries, metering surrounds or board equipment and quotes necessary repairs.
Ladders, elevating work platforms, traffic control and safe approach distances can affect scheduling. The planned outage is coordinated after the support and materials are ready.
03 / The Process
The support is prepared before the service is reattached, avoiding a repeat attendance or connection to an unsuitable structure.
Responsibility: Property owner and network distributor
For fallen, sparking or dangerously low lines, stay clear and contact the distributor first. Call 000 where life or property is in immediate danger.
Responsibility: Stewart Electrical Group
We inspect accessible support, conduit, consumer mains, meter surrounds and switchboard, and review photos or defect information.
Responsibility: Stewart Electrical Group and accredited partner
The proposed attachment position, support preparation, service isolation and network notification are defined. The required approval for the final attachment position is confirmed against the applicable network process before installation.
Responsibility: Builder or Stewart Electrical Group
Included bracket support, conduit and customer-side cable work is completed. Specialist roofing, carpentry or structural work is finished before reconnection.
Responsibility: Accredited Level 2 partner
The partner completes the authorised network-side isolation and service work, secures the line to the approved point and carries out its required tests.
Responsibility: Stewart Electrical Group and accredited partner
Stewart checks customer-side operation and documents eligible installation work; the partner completes the service notification. Remaining building finishes are identified.
04 / Safety & Compliance
Network-side service detachment, attachment and reconnection must be completed by an appropriately accredited and authorised Level 2 partner. Stewart coordinates but does not complete that work.
Building supports and service positions must satisfy the NSW Service and Installation Rules and relevant distributor requirements. Exact clearances and attachment methods are confirmed for the property.
Stewart completes licensed customer-side electrical repairs under applicable NSW requirements and AS/NZS 3000, with a CCEW where required. The accepted scope identifies the completion records supplied by the accredited partner.
Never touch an attachment, bracket or line that has moved after a storm. Conductors can remain live or be re-energised without warning.
05 / Local Conditions
Tree-lined streets across Sutherland and St George expose overhead services to branch movement during wind and storms. Vegetation near live lines should only be managed through suitable network and specialist processes.
Coastal air around Cronulla, Caringbah and Taren Point can affect exposed metalwork, while older timber fascia may hide deterioration behind paint. Both the bracket and its support need inspection.
Renovations in Gymea, Miranda and Sylvania often change roof profiles, carports and balconies. Attachment planning should occur before facade and roofing details are finalised.

07 / Frequently Asked Questions
It is the approved location where an overhead electrical service is mechanically secured to a building, private pole or other support before the supply continues toward the meter and installation.
No. The network-side detachment and reattachment are completed by an accredited Level 2 partner. Stewart handles assessment, coordination and included customer-side work.
Stay at least eight metres away, keep others clear and contact the network emergency line. Call 000 if life is at risk. Never assume the line is dead.
Potentially. The new position must meet network and clearance requirements, and the supporting structure, customer mains and service transfer all need to be planned.
Often a carpenter, roofer or structural professional is needed if the attachment support is unsound. The repair scope identifies what must be completed before the service is reattached.
The on-site electrical work may be coordinated in one attendance when the support is ready, but approvals, access and partner scheduling vary. Completion timing depends on the approved repair, access, materials and coordinated attendance and is confirmed after assessment.
