Rubber or cloth-insulated cable
Older Gymea homes can still contain cable insulation that becomes brittle with age.

Home Rewiring
Rewiring replaces old cabling with new cable, switches and outlets, so the home has safe, reliable circuits.

01 / Signs You Need This
Old wiring often gives small warnings before it becomes a larger problem.
Older Gymea homes can still contain cable insulation that becomes brittle with age.
Loose or deteriorated connections can cause lights to flicker.
Heat at an outlet is a sign that should be checked promptly.
Opening walls and ceilings is often the best time to replace old wiring.
02 / What's Included
A rewire is planned around the condition of the existing installation.
Identifying which circuits need replacing and which are sound.
Replacement cable run to lights, power points and appliances.
Switches and outlets replaced as circuits are renewed.
The board checked so it suits the new wiring.
03 / How the Job Works
Rewiring follows four steps, planned to limit disruption.
You tell us what is happening or what you want added. We look at the switchboard, the circuits involved and the property before recommending anything.
You receive a quote describing which areas are rewired and how the work will be staged.
Old cabling is disconnected and new cabling run, room by room where possible.
The work is tested before we leave, and a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW) is issued where the work requires one.
04 / Safety & Compliance
In NSW, rewiring must be carried out by a licensed electrician and tested to the Australian wiring rules (AS/NZS 3000).
Where the work requires it, we lodge a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW), which records what was done and confirms it has been tested.
05 / Exclusions & Limitations
Some items are separate to the rewire itself.
Patching and painting after access holes are usually handled by other trades.
Where asbestos may be present, access is planned carefully and specialist removal may be needed.
06 / Local Knowledge
Gymea's streets near the village and station include weatherboard cottages and brick homes, many renovated in stages.
We are based next door in Kirrawee, so staging a rewire over several visits is practical.
