Ceramic fuses
Rewireable fuses are still found in some Miranda homes and offer less protection than circuit breakers.

Switchboard Upgrades
A switchboard upgrade replaces an ageing board with modern circuit breakers and safety switches. In Miranda, many post-war and 1960s brick homes still run on boards installed when households used far less electricity.

01 / Signs You Need This
A switchboard can work for years without obvious trouble, then show its age once more load is added.
Rewireable fuses are still found in some Miranda homes and offer less protection than circuit breakers.
Some circuits, often lighting or older power circuits, may have no safety switch protection at all.
Breakers that trip under normal use can point to overload or a board that no longer suits the home.
A full board makes it difficult to add air conditioning, an EV charger or a new kitchen.
02 / What's Included
A switchboard upgrade covers the board itself and the checks that make it safe to connect.
Individually protected circuits, clearly labelled.
Safety switches arranged across the home's circuits to current requirements.
Each circuit tested as it is reconnected, so existing faults are identified.
Space planned for what you intend to add.
03 / How the Job Works
Most upgrades follow the same four stages.
You tell us what is happening or what you want added. We look at the switchboard, the circuits involved and the property before recommending anything.
You receive a written quote describing the board, the protection and any wiring issues found.
The power is isolated, the old board removed and the new board installed and connected.
The work is tested before we leave, and a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW) is issued where the work requires one.
04 / Safety & Compliance
In NSW, switchboard work must be carried out by a licensed electrician and tested to the Australian wiring rules (AS/NZS 3000).
Where the work requires it, we lodge a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW), which records what was done and confirms it has been tested.
05 / Exclusions & Limitations
Some related work sits outside a standard board upgrade.
Changes to the service mains or meter are coordinated with our accredited Level 2 partners.
Faults found during testing are explained and quoted separately.
06 / Local Knowledge
Miranda's residential streets around Westfield and the station include original brick homes, renovated houses and villa developments. Each has a different board arrangement, so we assess on site.
Units and villas may have boards in a shared meter room, which affects access and planning.
